I love tea, I dislike fluffy towels, I am repulsed by the smell of wet peanut butter. I have a love/hate relationship with the city of Chicago. I never know what to say on autobiography pages. I enjoy being a tourist in my own city. I have a slight ironic streak that I'm afraid means I'm a hipster. I try to maintain a child-like innocence. I am often mistaken for a Canadian (but not by Canadians). I make my smilies backwards. I develop crushes on people's voices, and on fictional characters, but prefer my real-life people to be friends.

I was an English/Creative Writing major, and had every intention of becoming a starving artist, until Circumstances dictated that I find an actual job. Now I've sold out and am working a rather soulless job in a law office until the economy decides to brighten up. I tend to live in my own little world. Part of it is here.

This journal, which used to be mostly fangirlish rambling, is... well, okay, it's still a fair amount of fangirlish rambling. I spent some time in anime fandoms, I still dabble in them. I love the convention-culture and yes, I cosplay (embarrassingly enough, I was one of the top image search results for a character in one of my favourite animes. I'm not telling you who). I'm a huge music nerd, and love trying to get people into new things. I've recently returned to my sci-fi TV roots, though I'm also getting back into video games. Someday, I may work on being a comic nerd as well. No one, however, will ever pry me away from my books. I'll read anything with a good story, or good writing... I'll try reading anything that has words (even, sometimes, if they're not even words in a language I understand).

The true majority of my writing here indulges my habit of philosophizing (which I suspect is annoying, but I secretly hope some people enjoy it), and of providing narration to my own boring exploits. I thrive on surrealism and oddness, and do what I can to make sure my life has enough of it. I don't write as much as I used to, I don't write as much as I'd like to, and I don't write as much as I should. And sometimes I hide behind friends locks for long periods of time for no real reason other than shyness. My life is boring, but I try to make it interesting. If I ever succeed with material as bland as my life at the present moment... hopefully that means I'll be able to make it as a real writer someday.

I also listen to a lot of music (okay, I'm a hipster). I take a lot of pictures. I occasionally write about life in 140-character intervals.
